The M22 although, very popular has a horrible first gear for drag and street stuff. Good for road race stuff, but unless you have a 4.11 axle ratio will suck off the line..., a well prepped nickel ST10 264X ratio with a Nodular Iron case maybe better. It depends on your budget, and axle ratio. The new M22W has a better street ratio but priced NEW is much more than a ST10 from Summit, which won't have the nodular case anyway.

I had an M22 Low Rockcrusher in my 68 Camaro with a 3:73 gear. With the small block, I would bog in first gear, until I got moving and the RPMs built up, but when I installed the big block, the M22 was great, because it had the torque to pull through the first gear. It really does sound like it is crushing rock....or at least it has bad bearings, but that is their signature sound.
