Default 70 LT1 engine compartment picture

Has anybody got a good digital picture of a factory correct 70 LT1 engine compartment (no air conditioning)? I'd like to see what new looked like to make comparisons to a car I'm going to see.

Thanks and Merry Christmas,

Rick

Hi Rick!

I've got some pics of a CTD block (300 horse) in an engine compartment. Also have some body & interior shots of the same 4 speed Vert car (no A/C). Let me know if these might help & I can email them to you

I do have a couple pics of a 1971 LT1 also

That '70 has a beautiful engine compartment! However, one thing stands out in my eye (from a NCRS standpoint) - the plastic fan shroud. I don't think they put those on until 73 -74 time period...

My 72 has a plastic fan shroud. I forget when they started but that is correct. Those engine compartments are clean! Mine is nice but I drive it so it is not quite as clean.

Mark: Those 1970 LT1 engine photos you posted from e bay are beautiful! What did that '70 LT1 car sell for a year ago?--if it did.

Sorry, but I can't remember. It looked like they had done a complete body off restoration and they posted a ton of pictures of the underside and engine compartment. I saved them all for future reference.

The 70s were 370 the 71 was 330 HP and the 72 was rated at 255 HP. That was net the other two are gross.

My 71 came original and it has a plastic fan shroud.

My 70 LT-1 has the plastic fan shroud. I do believe it to be original. However, I was trying to take a close look at the water pump. I believe the 70 LT-1 had the heavy duty water pump that had a plugged bypass port on the center top of the pump. Am I wrong?

All LT-1s had plastic fan shrouds. ZR-1s generally had no fan shroud.

All 70's with a big block radiator came with the plastic shroud. The LT-1 had a big block radiator, and all small blocks with a auto tranny. Small blocks that were stick had a metal fan shroud. My 70 300 horse auto has a plastic one.
