Was it difficult to do? Also, how do you determine when they are bad?
The most difficult part is cutting the bolts because they're rusted... the retainer nuts for the #4 mounts (inside the car, all the way in the rear) brake off because they're only spot welded...
I took my time and only worked on it for 2-3 hrs a day...
How you determine that they're bad ? You can see the #4 mount and also the #1 (at the firewall).. have a look... half of my mounts was gone... just not there anymore
Jughead, how in the world do you navigate that AIM. I can never find what I am looking for. It is one big maze, they need some decoder ring or so something.

That's not mine, I found it in Redbad1979's gallery. Wish I could take the credit.
You have a gallery here, why don't you upload them?
How did you lift the body?
I did not upload them in my gallery because I cannot create folders there, it would be a big mess... but I'll probably do it anyway because I cannot post the 4MB PDF file...
I can email this file to anybody who's interessted...
I lifted the body only 1" - that's enough to slide the mounts in and out. i used two jacks under the floorboard.
I cut the fiberglass at the #3 mount to gain access, after I glued it back in place it's not noticeable...
Thank you RedBad 1979. What a nice job and super follow-up w/photos. This is a job I have been putting off. I knew someone had a better way. Did you have to open your doors & hood because of body flex? When you used two jacks, were they on opposite sides for the same mounts? (#4 drivers side, #4 passenger side). I copied your photos to MS Word doc. as a future referance when I do mine. I still have one major problem yet. My drivers side sill support has been removed. Just the ends by the wheels remain. Any ideas? Thank you again.

PS, My email is down so I can't contact you right now that way. Hope to be up soon.

I did one side at a time, driver's first, then passenger side... After all eight mounts were replaced I verified the loading is pretty equal on all of them - none of them was moveable after shimming... Then I tightened the bolts ...
I just drove the Vette today for a few miles - again: what a difference....
When I lifted mine I did it one side at at time. I loosened all bolts on one side and then I placed a piece of plywood about 2'x2' under floorboard and lifted the side about 2". It is a tight fit but what isn't on the vette. Take your time and it is a days job. Took me about 5 hours. My $ 0.02

I would be interested in seeing all the files and photos if you would email them to me. Thanks. brooksman9@earthlink.net
The part of the bird cage that runs under the fiberglass doorsill that has the two plugs in it. My passenger side is OK.

Place a 2x2 foot piece of plywood between the jack and the floorboard to prevent the jack from penetrating the fiberglass....
Sleeper,
I had four bolts that wouldn't turn and I had to cut them... then I had to repair weld both #4 brackets... the #3 driver side retainer nut turned with the bolt so I had to cut the cage and weld that too.... if you did it all in five hours I assume yours was in really great condition, no rust and everything came loose... you were probably very lucky... I was not...
But I'm done with it and won't have to do it again for the next 20 or so years...
This is my winter project, too. But after spending so many hours getting the 8 bolts out, I decided--full body off frame resto! I'm hoisting the body off about 1 foot (today, hopefully), so I don't have to drain and disconnct the heater core, but then I'll replace brake lines, POR-15 the entire frame, etc. etc. etc.....
