i own a early production 1977 corvette paint code is 52 corvette yellow of which according to the black book only 71 cars were painted this shade of yellow. the black book also list code 56 corvette bright yellow, was this a mid production change of color? i noticed at a show that another 1977 with a blue engine and much latter s/n was a slightly different hue (more greenish or a washed out yellow) the owner of that car told me my car was not the original color ,i am just curious as to what is the truth. because according to the black book almost 2,000 corvettes were painted code 56 bright yellow.(yes my engine is chevy orange and was verified to be absolutely correct by several corvette enthusiast as well as a local ncrs judge.
any help on the color story would be greatly appreciated i try to keep the car stock and correct in appearance. i am so tempted to follow my buddy's lead and drop a 1992 & up LT-1 with a six speed in there but no, i resist.
My book show code 52 Corvette Yellow being the only yellow available 77-79. Code 56 Bright yellow was available 75-76, and in 74 as code 956. So I guess I don't have an answer to your question.

I also have the same info as Paul. Only one shade of yellow, code 52 for 77-79.
It appears 52 is slightly darker and more subdued than my 56 shade. 71 cars makes for a pretty rare option. I'd keep it that color if I were repainting.
