Default Where I can get muffler flow or test info?

After hearing Grayhook's new Dynomax exhaust w/Super Turbo mufflers on his new 355 I absolutely LOVE the sound and have been thinking of getting my exhaust redone.

BUT, I don't want restrictive mufflers. I want to see some flow info or some type of muffler test. The Google search turned up one interesting site but it was done back in 1995. Does anyone know of any recent tests or something I can use in my research?

Don't even mention Flowmaster. I do not want to sound like every hotrod, truck, and brother ride around here.

Presently, I'm running unknown brand headers, guessing to be 1-7/8", 2.5" duals into 2 Dynomax Bullets. It's really in-your-face and kinda raspy at high rpms. For my upgraded exhaust, I was thinking of using the Bullets as resonators maybe 3 feet past the headers, an X-pipe near the differential, and someone's turbo mufflers. Whaddya think?

Brett

you can see some flow results here:
http://www.corvettefaq.com/c3/cfm.pdf I didn't check if your mufflers were in there.

I wish I could find some flow stats for my 2.5" chambered.

Thanks!! That's what I'm looking for. Notice how the Flow mufflers are just above the OEM in flow...pitiful.

Anybody else know of any other info??

Some good flow info. Note that the Dynomax "Race Magnum" muffs in the chart are now known as the "Ultra Flo" line in the latest Summit catalog. Those are tough to beat for flow and sound performance. I've used 3" and 2.5" versions of the Race Magnum ovals with great success; highly recommended over the "blowmasters"!

I've searched the 'net several times for this type of info and never turned up diddly. There was a Norwegian(?) site that had a lot of good info, but most of the mufflers were European and not available here (USA).

The Dynomax website has some flow graphs.
Magnaflow and the Dynomax Ultra-Flo are nearly identical in flow, but the 'Maxes sound a little more aggressive.
I ~think~ SuperTrapp had some flow data as well...not sure.

I love Magnaflows. Got'em on three of my five vehicles (the Vette has JCL baffles and the '73 Capri...doesn't run...) They're nice and mellow on the highway and idle, but very "classic hot-rod" sounding at WOT. My under-hood temps went down 10* and my mileage improved 1-2 mpg after I put them on...no regrets

one other thing to note: if you think flowmasters are loud, you won't want chambered. About the only thing I've heard that is louder is GrandsportC3's 4" OPEN side pipes!

there is ONE advantage to a loud exhaust, and I learned about it on the bike I used to have: people know you are around them and look to see where. Less people changing into your lane while you're next to them.

Are the Magnaflows a straight-thru design like the Dynomaxes??

Flow 40s were on this car when I bought it. They didn't last long. The resonance was murder from 2000 to 2500 rpms. The Bullets I put on it are louder and have minimal resonance. Definitely a better muffler IMO.
