I am 6'5" tall and thinking about buying a '74 Corvette from an office buddy. Anyone out there have advice on whether I would fit or not?

is this a vert? you will not fit comfortably with stock seats with the t tops on.....the later c3s with the two part back seats seem to sit lower.....definitely try the fit first...C4s don't have this problem....

Depending on your proportions and flexibility, I'd say...maybe. My tall friends (6'4"-6'7") can't even get in my '68 with top on it...tilt steering would help...as would a 15"-14" wheel. I don't have either!

Ya Potsie, sit in it.

I am 6'1" and going to a smaller steering wheel helped with leg room but with manual steering makes it little more challanging to turn at low speeds. Have a vert so most times it it top down cruising.

I am 6'6" and I manage to squeeze my giraffe sized body in. It is tight. The question is how bad do you want a corvette? These cars aint no Cadillac so comfort is a low priority for us tall guys. If you are tall then you "wear" a corvette.

You can make it more comfortable by messing with the firewall and pedals (gain 5" legroom), owning a VERT to get infinite head room or put on glass tops/astrotop on a T-Top for a couple of inches. You can also modify the tracks from your seat to lower it if you are the only one driving it. Tilt/Tele is a must. A 14" wheel gives more leg room. An auto gives even more leg room.

So short answer is yes but uncomfortable. Yes with mods you can make it more comfortable.

If I was buying my car again as a tall guy I would want the following in order of priority for comfort.

1. Auto = legroom (keeps left leg from getting jammed between wheel and door panel / turn lever)
2. Vert = headroom
3. Tilt/Tele = easy entrance / exit
4. 14" wheel = more legroom

Good luck,

Pete

I'm 6'4" with a longer torso and I fit fine vertically. I don't see how I could operate a clutch in the car, but I'll put a manual in anyways. I fit better in the Corvette than I do in my Crown Victoria.

I have a '78 and a guy in our club who is 6'4" tried to get in and had his knees up and his head was just above the T-top edge. My uncle had a '78 and I think he's 6'1" and fit fine. I don't knwo what the trick is.

I'm 6' 4" with a 36" inseam. I fit but my head is up against the tops. I have purchased an AstroTop to increase the room. There is no way that I could operate a clutch with my legs, hence, mine is an auto. It also has the tilt/telescopic steering column. You need to sit in it; anything else is a guess.

I"{m 6'5" and like mentioned before, I cut the bottom forward section of the wirewall to a point just below the steering column, and moved it forward about3" or so on the bottom, also cutting/bending/welding the pedals for better position, I also cut the rear 'ears' off the seat tracks, and peeled the carpet/padding from under the tracks in front, and straightened them out, bought about 1/2" on front of tracks....adjust seat for more forward back rake to allow for the bodywork behind, and it's a done deal....now with the later shark TT wheel assy, that is also a positive, and I also eliminated the turnsignal switch and that annoying bump in the floor, by putting it on the column where it should be....

so now my '72 fits my arthritic *** just fine, ready for cross country cruising...

I appreciate the sentiment....but I currently live in Bermuda where no Corvettes are allowed. The car is in the US. I will be relocating to the US next summer and the fellow wants to sell it. Before I invest a lot of time and $$ travelling to the US to inspect the car, I wanted to get some expert advice from current owners as to whether the car would be viable for my 6'5" frame.

Thanks to all for the feedback.

I'm 6'4" with a 36" inseam and have plenty of room. My original seats are well worn though. I still have plenty of head room.

I'm 6'6" and 275 lbs and I fit just fine in my 75. If it was a manual trans I wouldn't be able to drive it because of the clutch travel. I can't move around like my truck but its a comfortable driving position.

6'3" 32" inseam (height really in torso) in a 73 with new foam and springs on the stock seats. T-top 4 speed car with tilt wheel. The fit is VERY TIGHT, i duck when i over large bumps, my head hits when i make hard right turns, my clutch leg is a bit cramped my gas brake leg is even worse.
