Default 30 tooth trans slip yoke ?

Hello

So, I ordered a T56 Viper 6 speed trans with mechanical speedo gear for my 68 BB.
Problem : output has 30 splines.
What yoke do I need ? A slip yoke is offered with it that requires a 1350 U-joint ! Well, I have no idea what my 68 BB drive shaft is or has as U-joint ? What do I require to shorten this shaft. Just a U-joint or more ?
Who sells this parts ?

Any ideas are wellcome.

Merry Christmas. Gunther

Gunther,

Viper output shaft requires a Mopar Hemi slip yoke. These are available from Denny's Driveshafts 716 875-6640.

Hi

Every T56 dealer offers 30 tooth slip yokes, but will they fit my driveshaft's U-joint ?
For example, the place I ordered the trans from sells a slip yoke that requires a 1350 U-joint.
How do I proceed here ?

Does Denny's driveshaft have a Internet page ?

Merry Christmas. Gunther

Gunther,

I believe you have a 68 like me. Mine had a 1310 series driveshaft (3 1/4 wide ujoint). Later C3's used 1330 series ujoints (3 5/8 wide). A 1350 is also 3 5/8 wide but uses 1 3/16 caps. You can get a ujoint that has both 1330 series and 1350 series combined.

The problem you are going to have is the pinion yoke for the differential. My 68 was 1310. I replaced the diff with a later 3:08 when I did my 5 speed conversion. The later 3:08 came with a 1330 pinion yoke. When you get your drive shaft shortened, you may be able to "splice" your 68 driveshaft to a later 1330 series. Then everything is OK.

Dennys Driveshaft is dennysdriveshaft.com go to the FAQ section.

Hi Larry

So, is the below slip yoke the one I require, depending on what I find on my driveshaft ?
They seem to have all 3 differnt kind slip yokes, so I wouldn't require any special U-joint or so ?

TRANSMISSION SLIP YOKES

CHRYSLER 727 Auto 4 SPEED Manual 30 SPL

$69.95 1310 Series
$79.95 1330 SERIES

$79.95 Std 1350 Series
$185.95 Billet

Sounds too good to be true !

Merry Christmas. Gunther

Gunther,

Do you have a 2 inch diameter driveshaft? If so, you will have 1310 ujoints and yokes. If you can buy a 1310 slip yoke that will fit your T56, then you are good to go! Make sure the diameter is the same.

The prices look reasonable. Most are less than $75. Spicer also has a website with lots of information.

Good Luck, Larry
