Today I was kind of bored so I went and decided to put another coat of wax on my newly aquired 1980. Yesterday It was 7 outside and today it was 45 and sunny, that most of the snow melted. I took some pictures but since it was so bright outside, I will have to take some more later. I am really enjoying this Vette. I plan on putting at least 2 more coats of wax on it. Some of the pictures are from the previous owner when he had it in Florida. I have only had this baby for 1 1/2 weeks. Here is the link to see the picture. Tell me what you think.
Nice pics, looks like you were enjoying the bright weather. I was thinking the same about the L88 hood, I have never seen one on the later C3's, looks good. Nice car
Thanks for all of the nice comments. I have no problem with the hood, I really think it looks real cool. I had no choice the Vette came with it, the previous owner thought it looked cool. The only thing with it and it does not bother me much is that on the front of the hood it does not line up and you can see a noticible gap. I looked at it and it does not have much room for adjustment. I am going to take it to the body shop that painted my BMW, so the door can be lined up and see what can be done about the hood. If I decide I will look for the original hood, maybe.

Thanks for looking

Great looking car. Love the silver.
The hood will look great when the gap is gone. It's very possible that it is over-shimmed at the front. It looks high as well as being too close to the windshield. The shop can fix it.

I did look at it yesterday and in the front driver side it has 3 washers on each bolt, and on the other side there is none. Also on the rear 2 hooks there are several washers on each bolt. I hope that I be able to have it fixed. I will keep you informed as to when I take it to the shop. Going to Orlando to see my new grandson, tonight and will be back on the 3 of Jan. The roads are nasty with alot of salt and gravel due to it snowing lately.
If anybody has any sugestions as to fixing the hood please share.
snakeman,
Hey same color as my 80 only yours is in a lot better shape. I still have orginal paint on and its showing its age. I have the dark blue interior. Got your e-mail and replyed to your post but was a few days late.
Does that hood actually have a "hole" in it? If so wouldn't this let rain in and possibly hit the intake?
Bry
no--it's open at the rear only, which lets the intake draw in cooler, low pressure air from around the base of the windshield. lower air temp = more HP. so, yes, you can help your performance by changing hoods . . .not a LOT, but . . .
