Default Window seal on convertible question

When I roll the window all the way up on the passenger side I have enough of a little gap to let the wind come through...can I adjust the window to go up higher or is this a sign that the seal needs to be replaced on the top?

I asked about this last week. My window is adjusted perfect right now but I still have a gap. You can adjsut the top and the window and if your seals are bad I would replace them. Did this happen all of a sudden or did you do some work. My top needs adjusting right now. Just need a little warmer weather to work in.

I havent done any work on it...and the seals appear to be good. It is just that enough air comes through to really be annoying...at least when it is 26 degrees out! I have had the car for a few months now and it was this way when I got it...just though i would seek advice before I started tinkiering on my own.

There are adjustments in the assembly manual.

You did not state whether or not you have a hardtop. I just replaced my window mechanisms and and am in the process of adjusting the windows to the hardtop. Once that is done, I have to remove the hardtop and adjust the soft top to the windows using the 4 mounting bolts.

If you have a factory service manual, it is all in there. If the top was replaced and not adjusted to the windows at the time, you may not get it any better than it is. The soft top frame has to be properly fit to the windows before the top material is put on the frame and if you have a hard top as well, as already said, it has to be adjusted to fit first. See the assembly manual.

Here's the other thread mentioned above. It has a link to a site with instructions.

Hi

I wouldn't touch the soft top adjustment. You will produce wrinkles .
The top,s frame should be adjusted to the windows before the soft top rack material is installed.
You can adjust your windows up/down and in/out after removing the door panel. It is nearly self explanatory, once you see the mechanisme.
You can also adjust the top's seals by putting shimms under them in order to bring them a bit down . Possibly even a bit in/out.

The correct order of adjustment is to adjust the windows to the hardtop. Than the soft top frame to the windows, than install soft top canvas.

Good luck. Gunther

If I remember right, the upper seal has a slight up and down adjustment to it. Just loosen the screws a bit and it should slide up or down, max .25 of an inch.
