Default Reliability

Ok guys and gal lets hear your story of how relaible your Vette is.

Okay for me I choose not to drive daily but with gas prices I choose a 40MPG Civic but she could do it. Logged 153 miles in the last 2 days, lots of stop lights, lots of 6,000RPM launches and no over heating no problems ever, going on 37 years old!

Had no reliability problems with mine except the differential which I managed to blow up twice .. but Drag Racing with slicks and close to 500 HP will do that

with my slip fit bearings and all i drive mine all over creation and at least every day getting groceries, home depot ect. Use it on business trips to Phili and Buffalo even took it all the way to Newfoundland CA once. Then i usually run it at Lime Rock and NHIS each year.

The last time i got towed over a year ago was because someone slashed my tire at the Rennisance Festival.

That wasn't you was it?.

In 3 years mine has been fairly reliable though it has developed a miss at high speed that left me on a tow truck recently. Once I get that cleared up, I anticipate continued smooth sailing.

I just drove mine a month ago from Mpls to Springfield Missouri, taking some backroads once in Missouri. It didnt miss a beat. No runs, drips, or errors. Hit around 110-120 maybe ditching some rice on the interstate.

Of course I dont ever consider 6K launches

Danny one thing I will not do is touch someone's car. If I have a problem with somebody I take it up with that fellow. To me an auto vandelizer is below a mole, i.e. a ***** that is not man enough to take up his issues with the person and must go behind his back and take on a defensless car. I'd risk aggrevated assault charges to permanently hurt the man that f's with my car.

Can't really count mine yet. Just got the engine in and still "tweaking." Weather turned bad and had to stop. I got a good feeling about this though.

Longest round trip I did with my SB was about 220 miles last year. Performed pretty good compared to when I brought her home. Was a little paranoid though, kept stopping to open the hood to see if anything fell off or was leaking.

Mine was reliable...until moving day, last week. Crapped out at midnite in the middle of the road.

Now I'm in trouble-shooting hell...

Oh, well. Can't complain. Two + years without a major problem. I guess I was due.

I drive my 72 8 months of the year. Daily to work, and across country. Longest round trip was 4700 miles. One of these Octobers we plan to go to Banff in Alberta. That will be a REAL road trip.

Reliable? Perfectly every time, just reach in the window, turn the switch and it`s running.

Hey me too! I've floated around many discussion boards before discovering CF (upon buying my car) 2 years ago. One quickly learns that it's pointless to get really angry, beyond just having fun with it. I do seem to have some opinions unpopular with this "majority" I keep hearing about.

Back to the topic. 30,000 miles in 2 years. I know there are those with 250k+ on their cars, but I'm pretty happy with my car holding together. I used to drive east from Kansas several times a year, now that I live here though I'll have to make some roadtrips to CA to keep my mi/yr up!

Car hasn't been stagnant through all those miles either. I bought it after sittin 17 years with 58k on the clock, engine just rebuilt. I've rebuilt front suspension, all brakes, added camshaft, heads, intake, carb, trans rebuild... well my signature mostly covers it. The three times it's seen a tow truck was from prev. owners garage to my house, flat tire caused by long spring bolt :o , and most recently for screwing with the pump gasket when installing a shift kit... led to full rebuild, now leakfree Mostly it's done very well considering the beating I give it on a daily basis.

Hm...Over 4 breakdowns since I got it ( less than a year ) but it doesn't bother me...I don't see any 30 year old hondas on the street.

i've had to stop twice to fix something on the vette. The first time my alternator belt slipped off at 6000rpm. The second time my alternator belt slipped off at 6000rpm. I really should look into aligning those pulleys Good thing i carry a few open ends in the back.
