Over Charging??? (Dash Gauge)
During today's cruise, the battery gauge in my 80 pegged on 18 (red zone). High pitched whine started coming from the engine compartment and when I stopped, the alternator was so hot that water boiled upon touching it.
Have a replacement alternator on the way...Anything else that could cause this?
