OK there are sources for replacement window stickers, and you can get a copy of dealers invoices from GM. Does anyone know where I can get a tank sticker reproduced? I have a mostly unreadable tank sticker and a good copy of my dealer invoice now on its way. Now all I need is a replacement tank sticker to complete my documents. I would think it should out there somewhere. Any help? Thanks!
Over the years I have heard people here say you can get them and "they're out there" but I have never once seen repro tank stickers for sale, not in magazines like Hemmings, not on the internet, not on ebay, not anywhere, so I think they're full of hooey. Just my opinion.
Many folks think reproducing things like tank stickers and protecto plates amounts to fraud, since they would likely be passed off as original and could increase the value of the car considerably.
I would agree with you except for the fact if you saw the condition of the one on the car, a brand new one would stick out like a sore thumb. And I don't think it could be passed off. Plus while our car is special to us it is nothing out of the ordinary. I think if G.M. were smart they could sell replacements stamped with a water mark "copy of orginal". If I had the time and patience I could probably replicate the one I have. Minus the yellowing and faded printing.
