I know I should have got the vbp 550 spring, I want to drop the front about an inch from the factory location, I'm going to cut both springs a half coil at first to try and achieve this, my question is if I cut a half coil off how will both ends of the spring mount and align into the upper spring housing hole and the lower a-arm hole? do I have to cut a full coil off to keep the spring end alignment? Thanks.

 

I thought that the #460s were already an inch shorter than stock? WTF

Sounds like 1/2 is a good place to start. Only worry about the upper part of the spring seating in the upper pocket. The lower will never line up with the grooves. The upper has a groove just like the lower. Stick your hand up in there and feel for it. Find the end of the groove and position the end of the spring in there. Position the lower part of the spring the best you can.

Cut the spring from the bottom coils where there's more spacing between the coils. It worked for me. Only took me 6 tries to figure that out....and a hint from Chuck Gongloff.

 

I also have the 460lbs springs and cut 1/2 coil off - in my gallery are photos 'before and after' - I believe page 4 or 5 ...

As said above: cut the bottom and get the upper end seated correctly in the pocket, otherwise it will make terrible noises (been there, done it twice)

It seems that every car is different, mine was sitting at 29" with the (uncut) 460lbs springs, after cutting 1/2 coil it's now at 28"........ 27.5" looks perfect IMO ...
