How does one replace the coil spring in the power window?

How does one replace the coil spring in the power window?
Is there any chance of replacing the coil spring that takes some of the weight off the window ... and doing this in the door? Any tips that can help with this obvioulsy difficult task. Clearly there is one position that has no tension when the window is closed (and it wants to fall out) but I would thing it should be 1/2 turn past this. that is allot of tension ...more than can be applied by hand it seems. Any clues???

I remember I put my springs on while the mechanism was in the door. What I did was partially insert the spring into the holder, then using a heavy piece of twine I pulled down on the spring to clear the pin it pushes on, and with the other hand pushed the spring on. When I let go the spring was under tension and I had to cut the twine to get it out. I don't remember if I had the regulator up or down, but I'm guessing it was up and I had the glass out.
