Default Engine parts from only block number?

Ok, so my 81 has a 350/4 bolt out of an 80-85 Chevy/GMC pickup based on the casting number on the block (14010207). I'm trying to find a dipstick that'll fit it, but the local Chevy house isn't being very helpful. Is there any place I can use the block number to look up the GM part numbers for say the dipstick and tube?

I used an 1985 350 block out of a Suburban and had problems getting a dipstick. I ended up finding one at Autozone that was labeled for a big block.

Just use a stock 81 Corvette dipstick. Should interchange with all (pass side dipstick) 80-85 2-bolt or 4-bolt 262, 305, or 350 blocks. May even interchange with the the 86 up blocks but I'm not positive.

Just be sure the tube and indicator (stick) are for the same application.

i think the important thing is that you get a tube that matches the dipstick...so get them together.....get a chrome one from your local speed shop for $12.95. put it in, fill it with a known quanitiy of oil, let filter get full and see if the markings matchs up if not make new stampings on it...

I picked up a stick and tube for an 85 pickup. As soon as all this ice melts off and it warms up a bit, I'll give it a shot.

Thanks!
