Some Ferarris are kinda cool, but I think it will take me 2 days to get sick of it. It's a head turner no question there, but it's not that 'bad boy' car It's the little rich spoiled play boy middle age crisis car.
Did you guys know that the earlier 308's were fiberglass bodies, later they changed the same body to steel? I'm pretty sure that's what I saw on Speed channel last week.
Funny you should mention a Ferrari 308 along with a C3. I've told my wife and friends numerous times that when the kids are out of college that will be my next car. As a kid that was my dream car.
I was on a plane having drinks with some guy next to me when we got into a conversation about cars. He was a car guy also. He told me that there is an aftermarket kit available for installing a Chevy 350 into a 308. That got me thinking of a plan...find a solid, well maintained 308 that has a blown engine. Buy the car for cheap, pull the pos Ferrari engine and install a 350 crate engine. That way I already know how to work on the engine and have the necessary tools.
Imagine a fire engine red 308 with a dead reliable Chevy 350
As a enlisted AF guy living in Germany, I scraped together enough $$ to buy a nice older red Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0L with a whale tail .... the first time I walked into the German parts store I knew I was in over my head --- brake pads $100.00... each side!! One muffler/heat exchanger (has two) $600.00. And that was back in the mid 80's.................. Corvettes are not cheap, but much cheaper!

Amen brother! Especially the part about getting sick of it after 2 days.
As a kid in the mid eighties, I had two posters on the wall, a '78 Vette Pace Car, which came out when I was 3, and a Ferrari 308. I don't like the 308s anymore; they look dated. The C3's style is timeless.
And as far a getting parts, it is an absolute joy to just go online to a half dozen different vendors and find parts within minutes. I remember when my father was restoring his '57 Chevy back in '88-'93; it would take him weeks of calling around to find parts. I can only imagine the headache of trying to find Ferrari parts at somewhat reasonable cost.

Thats would be sweet I've always wondered if it was possible to do that myself. I loved watching Magnum PI. the only other car I liked as much was the coyote on Hardcastle and McCormick.
