Goodyear vs Firestone
Hi, I am looking for information regarding GM Code PU9. I have a 1970 454 Corvette Stingray Coupe with 43k original miles which I obtained a year ago. When I bought it it had and still has vintage poly bias Goodyear F70x15 tires on it. The rubber is excellent and I hate to replace them but I am striving to keep the car as original as possible. With the exception of the tires (?) everything else is original as per the documentation which includes the intact build sheet, original corvette order form, documentation down to the date it was sold and the original waranty card and protecto-plate. I also have a list of the matching date codes for all of the major components down to the glass. The car has won 5 Bloomington Gold certificates, 5 NCRS Top Flight awards, 3 Gold Spinner Awards and 3 Triple Crowns. My question is- Since the GM PU9 code refers only to F70x15 Raised White Letter tires did the car come off the showroom floor with Firestone F70x15 Raised White Letter Wide-Ovals or the Goodyear tires that are on it? Any help would be appreciated; thanks.

What is the spare tire?
Check to see if the spare tire and its wheel have the correct date codes for your car. If the dates match then it is probably the original and is 'correct'.
