American engine exporter needed
I was wondering if anyone could help find an engine remanufacturer in the USA, which exports engines to The Netherlands in Europe. I am seeking a remanufactured 454CU bigblock, used in the 1973 Corvette.
Thanks,
Alex
I think it possible I heard it before but will cost ya alot of $$$$ and you'll have to get it shiped by sea so it will take long too.
I had a trans shipped over via California shipping & the cost wasn't as bad as I expected (under £300 as I remember). What would be worth doing is contacting www.moving-parts.com in the UK. The guy who set it up is a C3 owner who got pissed off with getting ripped off on shipping costs (like the rest of us) & set this company up to ship from the US to Europe with no hidden extras. All you'll need to do is get the engine shipped to their New York depot & they'll do the rest. I'd go for surface shipping rather than air(!) but they'll be able to give you a complete breakdown of the total costs, including duty, tax, etc. People that have used them are very happy with the service. The guy to talk to is Steve (& if you use them he owes me a pint
).
Yes, that it right. I want to buy a remanufacured 454 in the USA and have the company to ship it to the Netherlands or any other something like that
IF you are after a "correct" motor for a restoration I can understand what you are trying to do. I did it a few years ago.
If you are after a performance motor wouldn' it be cheaper to get yours built locally?

Alex,
If you are after a standard or correct engine, it would probably better to stay away from performance engine builders.
Back in 2000, I found my engine through Hemmings online. There are many suppliers there who will supply a correct engine block and heads and they usually ask a high premium for the "correct" numbers. I was lucky that I found a complete '68 435 HP engine in need of reconditioning. It was in Arkansas and after some negotiation I bought it. The seller offered to take it to Bowling Green as I was going there for the Labor Day celebrations and he left the motor with my friends. Another friend transported the motor to LA where it was put in a shared container and shipped to Australia. The entire shipping ended up only costing $300Aus plus duty but the motor was $3500 US ($6500Aus at the time) and then I spent another $3500 Aus reconditioning it.
All this to get the "correct" numbers on the block. Do you really want go through this expense?
If you find the Correct motor or parts then using a firm like UKpaul suggested would be the best method of shipping. You get the parts delivered to the container yard and they look after it until it gets to you.
