Default How do I decode a Trim Tag?

CHEVROLET F16
Trim 402 984 PAINT

I have that on my trim tag and I have no idea what that means. The labels for the build sheet and vin plate are missing. What do these numbers mean and how do I decode it? Grant me thy wisdom O lords of the Vette!-

what year is your vette? 402 is leather for 68-69, 984 is safari yellow for the 68, and daytona yellow for the 69

F16 is either a fast jet or the build date of your body.

Since your profile says '69 vert:

F16 == January 16, 1969

This translates into your vette's birthday as 1/18/1969 (give or take a day).

Better get shopping for a present !!!
She'll be 36, so a leather bra might not be a good idea.
New shoes are always nice.

Where can you find a chart that tells you the birthdays? Mine says E18 but i dont know what the E stands for. Is there somewhere we can all check and find out how to decode the trim tag? thanks

Generaly. But some years started later and others ran longer i.e. the '69 model, started in Sept 68 and ran through Dec 69; then the 70 started in Jan 70 and ran through July 70; the '75 started in Oct 74 and ran through July 75.

Several books have ALL the numbers ...

Corvette Little Black Book
Corvette Restoration Guide (Prince)
Corvette by the Numbers

I'm sure there are many more.

Thanks guys, I will have to get one of those books so I can also translate the VIN. And yes it is a 69 vette.
