Default Cragar SS wheels

I am looking at buying the 15 inch Cragar SS wheels, they come with the 4.25 backspace. With that backspace why do I need the spacers, do they hit the calipers? If the spacer is needed, what thickness?

With that backspacing, you shouldn't need spacers. You should fit-test them first, if you can. I have 17"ers with 4.5" BS, and needed 1/4" in the rear. IF you use spacers, use a quality product; not the cast aluminum ones. They need to fit the bolt-pattern exactly and "center" on the hub.

I believe OHSIXX has those wheels on his car right now. He is in the process of taking them off and putting on 17 inch TTII's in the next week or so. Give him a shout and maybe he can set you up.

You will need spacers. Half-inch will probably do it, but I went with 5/8th; it was a close call. Take very exact measurements of the studs diameter and pattern. You want everything to fit perfectly to avoid any bounce or other problems. Lots of people bad mouth spacers, but if done right there will be no problems. I had mine machined out of billet aluminum. They looked so good, putting them behind the wheels was almost a sin. You will also need to use some long lug nuts. I bought McGards. BTW, the spinner center caps really make the Cragars stand out.

Just sold my entire setup to TISQUICK in Cape Coral, Florida.

Yep, I agree, 1/2" spacers.

Gotta love the spinners too!
