Default Big problem

i was taking out the door jamb switches that turn your interior lights on when it grounds out when the lower portion that has the terminals on it broke off when i tried to wiggle it out. i can see the wires but im wondering if there is any way to access these wires or to get them outa there short of pulling the body off. any adivce on this? im sure this is a common problem since these switches look like they are from the factory.

I have a "grabber" that has saved me many times. It's a small (~1/8" diameter) flexible spiral about 20" long with a solid piece of thin metal running through the center. When you depress the button on one end, it opens a small four-finger claw on the opposite end for retrieving small items in very tight spaces.

There is a inspection plate in the wheel well in front of the rear tire. Remove that plate and you will see the wires leading to the switch at the lower door jam. That wire runs behind the bulkhead just behind the seats. I think they are lite blue and black. You might be able to reach them without removing the tire if you use a mirror to see what you are doing.

If your car has the same routing as a '69 the following should work.

The switches that turn on your interior lights are towards the front of the car. The one in the rear is the door ajar switch.

If you take out the kick panel, you should find one orange and one white wire that leads to the switch. You should be able to pull it back into the cab, then using a fish wire (a piece of stainless from an old wiper blade works well) rerun your wire out to the door opening/switch.

If you were talking about the rear switch, at least on a '69 it can be found under the rug behind the seats, and the same procedure can be followed.

Taking the body off wouldn't help you on a '69.

the switch im talking about is the one next to where the door hinges are, and when you depress it, it "un-grounds" the lights so they turn off when you close the door. now when i tried removing it with a drive socket, i stripped some threads out of the switch. i think ill just epoxy the sucker in there with some lite strength stuff so if i ever need it off again i can just twist it out...or i can try and salvage the threads. is there any way i can get to these wires from the interior? and if so where do these wires route? i want this to be a week projext, not a month project this time lol.
