I think very few Ferraris ever came with turbocharged engines. AFAIK only F40 and 288 GTO (and some italian market cars with 2 liter engines) had turbos.

Regarding Chevy engines I also sometimes think about "the 350 that chevrolet should have built" article that was published a couple of years ago (400 block with 327 crank)...

You can have your dinky engine, I'll take big632s

Seriously, I don't think the sbc is a really good base for a small displacement high revving engine. I'm not saying it can't be done and good power can be made, it has been done but at what cost and how dependable is the engine?

well the crankshafts and pistons are the only real hard part. Most everything else is an affordable after market part.

Everything is available on the aftermarket for a 302. might even be possible to get the pistons made for a 321 or a 400 block with a 302 crank. that would rev nicely too, with a cheap affordable aftermarket solid tappet or roller valve train.

I am intrigued by this 302 idea. I think I might dabble with one some day.

Yeah, but look at their cost and complexity. Even if you were crazy enough to try to match them, you'd fail. There's no way you could get a chevy engine to anywhere near that sort of efficiency without either forced induction or major driveability issues. Our lack of variable valve timing and other modern tricks makes extremely revvy smallblocks impractical for street use.

Smokey did a 207 cube SBC... turbocharged in an Indy car! I read through his books, from what he was saying the thing made a 900-1000 horsepower and ate pistons.

The other thing you'll be fighting is dollars per RPM increase. All the weight on the valve side of the rocker arm trys to float around... valve bounce/valve float.
