It's called Paint Protection Film
There are several manufacturers of the clear film apart from 3M.
I actually have started a business installing the film and my Vette is the demo vehicle. If you want to see pics of it installed go to my website and have a look at mine. I use Ventureshield because I believe its better than 3M.
The solution is better than cleartastic if you drive your car. If you show it you may want to try cleartastic but I do not know if they make it big enough to protect the front of a Vette and if it will stay there in such a big sheet.
