Default VIN # Decoding?

Just looking for a bit of info and history on my 69 Corvette Convertible.
When was my Corvette made? (Date of production) Can you tell by it's VIN#? (Is it an early model or late model 69?)

My VIN# is 1946 79S 704606.

All I have found is:

Division (1): Chevrolet
Car Line (9467): Corvette Convertible
Model Year (9): 1969
Plant (S): St. Louis, MO
Sequence Number: 704606

Thank you! BTW, How did you find out that info (Just curious). Also were there any differences in the early 69's -vs- late 69's? (I know sometimes when ordering replacement parts they ask this info) When (what month or date) did production start on the 69? I heard they made many 69's due to some union strike back then (but I may have my info incorrect).

I also found the following Stamped on the metal plate on the driver's side door. If this helps!
