Default Door Lock Needed

My 74s passanger door wouldn't open for the last few months. I got it open but the mech says I need a new door latch/lock. Not the key assembly but the part that is in the end of the door that latches on the stryker. I can't find a pic in the catalogs and the part has been discontinued. I would rather not get a used part unless I have to. HELP! TIA

I bought a used one from the C3 Parts for Sale section of this forum. Don't forget, left and right are not interchangable. I'm pretty sure new ones are available from Midamerica, Corvette Central etc.

Big $$$.

If yours is sticking like mine were, you might be able to get it back by spraying it with a lot of penetrant and working it back and forth till it gets loose. Then you can hit it with the lithium grease and you are good to go. Pull it out if you can and it will be easier to clean.

If the mechanisim is truly trashed, you probably will need a used piece for a lot less $$$.

Try removing it and degreasing it with engine cleaner and hot water.
If not start watching ebay. I've seen some but not sure if it was the year that you needed.

When I was at Bloomington in 2003 there was a guy walking around selling new ones to the vendors. Somebody is reproducing them now. Try somebody like Bairs Corvette Parts.
