how much play should i get from the power steering valve, where the ball joint type shaft connects to the centerlink? as i turn my steering wheel side to side i get 1/2" play or more in either direction before it moves the center link. everything is new but the ps ram. ive changed this before for exact same problem, and here i am again. my car wanders, and its hard to align steering wheel properly. all i can think of is im buying my ps valve re-man from a-zone. but two in a row? anybody?
i don't think the valve should move at all. one end is screwed on to the link, right???? the ball stud should be inserted into the pitman and torqued down. is this a vette that has been converted to power steering?
1/2 inch sounds like too much but there is considerable play. The play is what is acutally activating the hydraulics. start the car and see if there is any play.
No Not Converted, Just Bad Typing! My Steering Moves The Shaft That Comes Out Of The Psv 1/2 Before It Moves My Wheels L/r. Im On Second Replacement, And Started Thinking This Is Normal. Less Than 1000 Miles On Each Psv!

I just did a complete rebuild of the front end,
I rebuilt the pscv to. and I have the same exact problem.
I need to start the car before thinking something is wrong.
if the play is still there, time to buy a new one.
I will contact VBP about this tomorrow. and let
you know
thanks but my engine is running! are you saying fluid is going into the area that the ball stud comes out of, and causes it to tighten up? this sounds very strange. i thought it was nothing more than a way to get the lines down to the ram. im gonna take one apart, after i order a NEW one. not re-maned. thanks

It has something to due with the nut you tighten
up for the valve pressure according to robin at vbp.
mine don't do it when the car is running, but turned
off I have play.
No fluid goes in the ball stud area.
only pressure side.
