I was looking thru the Doc Rebuild Catalog and noticed these in the catalog. I have a 1980 and they are not there, are they needed?? Thanks for the information..

They are virtually impossible to find. Don't know why Paragon does not fabricate some, as they get a pretty penny for anything they sell.
I have them on my 68 coupe and as the water runs down the body pillar that has the door latch pin, it diverts the water to the outside so that it runs onto the street rather than into the vehicle. I have had them since 1972. They were not stock for a 68 but I added them and they work well. The key is to make sure you get a dood seal so the water is diverted and doesn't run behind the diverter itself.
are those the ones in the doors? If so, I think Ecklers sells a "functional" belt molding that might be more effective. I'm guessing that it keeps the water out at the top instead of letting it come inside and routing it it.

Yes, they are needed. Without them, it becomes a virtual certainty that water will get inside.
You can buy them from several of the major corvette vendors but I don't remember how much they are, just that it seemed like a lot of money for a little strip of rubber.
Seems like it would be simple enough to get some rubber sheeting from Lowes or HD and just fab up a set.
oops sorry about the Mongo pictures, I forgot to resize.
As some of you know my 73 was in an expensive wreck. While removing the broken windshield for replacement I came across this little jewel right at the bottom of the fiberglass underpinning of the actual point that extends to the door on the left side. Just at the bottom of the old windsheild. It was actualy screwed into the fire wall.
Bye the way my windsheild install went great, concidering I've never installed a windsheild.
Realy I don't mean to High jack and I was gonna make this an origonal post but it just seemed to go here.
I believe this is a water diverter too. The lack of which is no dought responcible for much rust damage. Has anyone seen these for sale?
Peace.........Out
I put them in my 73 last spring. They are a bit pricey, but the cost to rework the seat belts is much more.
To insure a seal between the inner edge of the rubber piece and the body place a dap of silicone caulk in there during installation.

Ok, i have kinda the same problem with water coming into the car on my 79, but when i went to Ecklers and ordered a pair of diverters with #A2916r and A2916L they dont look anything like what i have. i dont mean to be a thread hijacker but can someone post pics of their 78-79 vettes door sill or look on Ecklers to see where these part #'s go? im confused.
Joe73vette's photo clearly shows the door sill water diverter. Do not believe they were OEM until 1974---some very late 73's may have had them. They are an excellent idea. Many owners have aded them like KSBunting did. They work.
they're on my 75, i cant believe there was vettes made without them.
i think they could be fabricated easily if you have a piece of rubber with a bend in it . _/ <- like that, with a piece of aluminum flat stock to rivet thru.put silicone behind it and make sure it slopes out.
