I am trying to identify some small block chevy rods from 1970-75. They have green paint on part of the beam. On the small end is 632 on some & 633 on others cast in. H- beam and have a thick seam.
Also, the pistons are marked TRW 202-99.
My recollection for waht it's worth is that green dots are standard cast rods and pink dots were on the hi-po rods. Unless you are turning a lot of rpms or want like 500 hp out of it the standard rods are probably OK-particularly if you polish them and have them resized with good bolts. It's been a while, but that's what I remember.
ALL of the factory sbc rods are forged except for these later model powdered metal rods. The better ones had additional steps taken but all of them came from the same forging dies.
If you can see the rear crankshaft flange or numbers on the crank, you can determine the stroke/size of the engine. Check the parting line on the crank to determine if it is a forged or cast crank. If the line is thin, it is cast. If the line is wider, it is forged.
