Default Engine kits

I've been looking at various engine kits from places like Summit, Jegs,Northern Auto, Ebay vendors, etc.
I'm curious to know where or whose kits/parts you use?
Thanks,
Gary

No one has bought parts to rebuild their engine?
Did you have the shop use what ever they stock or bought a crate eng?

Gary.... you have mail. I don't use kits... I select the pistons, rings, bearings, etc based on the intended use, and the kits are usually a compromise.... they limit your control on parts selection. For example, you might get a great set of pistons, but because the "kit vendor" gets a deal on rings, you may get trashy rings or bearings. You have to know exactly what parts are in the kit or you can get screwed. A kit that says "either company A or company B" bearings is not acceptable. There are deals to be had in kits.... but you need to ask questions up front.

For a driver Northern Auto is great. I just buy Fel Pro head gaskets to go with it. If you want more control, PAW is hard to beat. They probably have the level kit you want with all good parts and you can also make substitutions.

I used the Summit rebuild kit for my 69 big block and was very pleased. Got quality Speed Pro forged pistons, felpro gasket set, quality bearings. The machine shop I used couldn't come close to the quality and price on what they were going to supply.

I bought my ZZ4H and some other parts from Scroggin Dickey. Good service.

I think their website is www//sdpc2000@com. Scroggy doggie is in Texas so you know they're good folks to deal with.

I buy Northern kits these days. You have choices on some things and the prices are good too.
