Default Body mount shims and door gap alignment

I'm now replacing my body mount bolts, shims and rubber. After rebuilding the front end I am slowly working to the rear of the car, this is turning into a mini body off (2 inches off) frame rebuild. I am welding weak areas and giving it a good cleaning and Por 15 (stupid but there is a storage room above my garage that is not strong enough and will not support the body). I have a nasty tappered fwd upper door gap (between the door panel and aft upper edge of the fender) on the passinger side. I was wondering if i bolt down #2 mount with no shim (this mount is at the door gap) and tapper shim the other mounts up could this help close the gap? The gap at this door is large all the way around with it being even larger at the upper fwd edge so realigning the door will not work. Thanks.

I don't think it will help much but you could leave the bolts loose and see if it makes a difference when shimming #3 and #4...

You need to make sure that all eight mounts are tight, indicating the body's weight is close to equally distributed to all eight mounts... then tighten the bolts.

it's a trial and error thing....adding/removing the shims will get the gaps perfect...there is no fast rule how many shims per side/location

Will the shimming have immediate results, or do you have to leave the setup alone for a while and let the body settle? Some of my shims fell out when I was removing the body
