Default Polyurethane tranny mounts..whats up?

Ok, i got a brand new Energy suspension poly transmission mount and a brand new rubber mount for the M20. Whats wrong with this??

Can you use the poly mount??.seems like it would screw up the whole geometry with the driveshaft...Thanks.

I have both of them, to get the transmission mount correct I bought two - rubber and urethane (maybe three). I compared them with the stock transmission mounts. I used the one that has the same height as the factory original. I think it was the rubber one. There really is a quality problem with repro parts. I'd like to think that the Corvette parts houses are fighting this problem for us. If they are, defective repro's are still getting through the system.

I have the energy poly motor mounts installed..(motor not in the car yet though), and i was debating on whether i should try this mount or not, but I'm skeptical because of the dramatic height difference. I guess i could try it, if anything seems wrong, i could always take it off and use the rubber one. I just don't understand why it has to be so different...*in quoting my father, "damn aftermarket crap!"

Had the same problem last year and called ES. Tech told me the 3.1108 mount would work on everything BUT corvette. I still have it sitting on my desk.
I used one from Prothane and it was a better fit. This year I purchased another Poly mount set from Summit because they said it fit Corvette-was the same thing, returned it and will use a rubber mount instead for the next install- Th400.

Can't you just not use the shim underneath it? I don't know, I don't remember what my mount was like. I had the same one and used it on my 200-4R. Angle was only like 1.5 degrees.

The plate that comes with the mounts are required as said by the instructions. It was like this on the motor mounts too. Even without the plate, the poly mount is significantly taller than the stock rubber.

I really don't see what all the fuss is about. The driveshaft has U-joints on both ends. If you look at any truck the pinion angle is way way more than the angle on my vette even with the energy suspension tranny mount. I have a friend with a 78 chevy 4 wheel drive, with a similar dana 44 front axle. His driveshaft is shorter than mine with a much greater angle between transfer case and differential and he's put thousands of miles on it with no problem. I can take pictures and measurements if you want, I've put about 1000 miles on my vette setup with absolutely no problems.

Do the math. The energy suspension setup is i'm assuming 1/2" taller than stock. We have about a 2' driveshaft. So tan^-1 (.5/24) = 1.19 degrees. 1.19 degrees is nothing compared to the angles on everyday trucks. The shifter height in the car with the poly mount is actually better than with the stock mount. I'd put in your poly mount. The worst that can happen is you have to jack up your tranny and change it out for the rubber mount, takes all of 5 minutes.

From my dealings with jeeps and lifts, you need to maintain the same angle at the pinion and the output of the transfer case (transmission for vettes). When you put a lift on a jeep, you usually lower the transfer case to maintain the angles. If you don't, the difference in angles will cause a vibration in the driveline.
