I have an early 69 427 with A/C, car was built Oct 15, 1968. My question is would 68 A/C components have filtered over into the early 69's? Does anyone have or know about early 69's having clamped hoses instead of crimped lines? Thanks for any input...........B

I don't believe GM ever used clamped refrigerant lines.....
Yes they did, up to 68 in Vettes. It requires a special hose clamp with a retainer to hold the hose from blowing off. My crimped line got a hole in it and it was repaired with a tube and those clamps.
Factory on all late '60's GM cars was crimped lines. If they needed service, clamps were used to attach the new lines unless the entire manifold assembly was replaced.
If you want the original look, there are certainly places that can re-produce those crimped connections. When I resurrected my A/C system, all the engine side stuff was missing, so I bought a used line assembly and had the lines replaced with barrier hose and then re-crimped them onto the compressor fitting. As far as I know, about the only difference between early and late systems was the label on the compressor and possibly the dryer shape. The labels are available from Jim Osborn reproductions.
Wrencher, I think you are wrong on that. I have an NOS muffler and block assembly for a 68 BB with no crimped lines. Look at this part list from Dr Rebuild http://docrebuild.com/dr-r-web/AC-HOSE.HTML
and look at the 68 assembly manual. Crimping evolved around 69 in Vettes.
