Steering Dampner
Noticed in diagrams there is a steering dampner with 2 brackets.
Not on my car!
Neither bracket or dampner to be found
Is this normal on a 1968 with no power steering?
Are they not necessary on some models?
Mabye this explains a couple things
If I am to add one how do you get the frame mount bracket reinforcemnt bolts inside the frame?
Is there a better dampner than OEM?
Steering dampers are usually added when a car is found to have a resonance as it makes a gradual turn while driving over chatter bumps. This resonance would cause the steering wheel to rapidly oscillate in your hands.
99% of the time you probably would never notice if you had a damper or not. If you did a lot of Autocrossing you might appreciate one.
I thought that I had a folder on the C2 steering damper but I don't seem to be able to find it. If you can find a NOS damper, that would probably be the best that you could put on the car. I don't think that anyone tried to develop an alternate design.
