Default Steering wheels for 1976 Vettes?

Is there a aftermarket sterring wheel that will fit a 1976 colum? With that HUGE telescopic colum in the 76 is there anyway to put one on there?? Remy

If you look at my pictures, there is a interior picture with a billet wheel using an aluminum aftermarket telescopic adapter. I could dig out my paperwork and give you the suppliers name. I still have telescopic/tilt and the adapter allows me to use aftermarket steering wheels. My wheel was from Billet Specialties. I can't remember where I got the adapter but I'm sure I could find out if you're interested.

You've got mail. Hey by using that adapter, would you have to use a Billit steering wheel? Remy

The actual steering column (not the steering wheel, horn, or telescope lock parts) is identical to the 1969 through 1975 T&T steering columns. If you have the extension, wheel, horn, and telescope lock parts for one of those older T&T columns, they will attach right to your 1976 column. So you may have to scrounge up parts from the earlier T&T columns to make some other steering wheel attach to your column. It is too bad that the attaching parts and steering wheel for 1976 were just a one year only deal. Nobody wants to waste time adapting to one year only parts.

Look up the steering wheel parts that are shown at www.corvettefaq.com in the Steering section. You can compare the 1969-75 to the 1976 parts in the drawings provided there. Just remember that the actual steering column is the same.

Good luck,
Jim

Began to think back...ran a search and found that I bought it at the same place I bought the wheel....Billet Specialties. I used the three inch one which is the height of the base ring and it conceals the innerds of the column when fully telescoped. Hope this helps and you get what you need. I would call them and discuss exactly what you want rather than using webpage....just to be sure you get the right part. As I recall, I originally got the two inch and had to send it back and get the three inch. This adapter will allow use of other steering wheel manufacturers but it's limited by the bolt pattern (9 holes) (see picture in link)
