Lets see some engine bay pic (firewall). Mine is gloss black and am contemplating going back to the stock low gloss black which has more of a grey tone to it. Lets see some engine bay pics.
(sorry just engine pics, I didn't take pics of the firewall just the engine but you can see it in the edges of the picture)

I kind of like the look of the trim paint. Did you buy from GM or after market?
Having said that, Cali your engine compartment looks fantastic! Not as nice as my "original condition" fenders and fire wall. There's something special and nostalgic about the dirt caked oil covering. Maybe it's the gas fumes that come off?
Seriously though, Cali did you use POR or gloss black?

I used POR-15 but did not glass in, sand before and the surface is all broken up. if I had done that than it would be nice. As I am going to get the car painted it's time to start this. With the engine in the way it will be a PITA but I'll remove everything off the firewall and wrap tape around the wiring before I paint, given POR-15 does not like ultra smooth surfaces I'll be going the trim paint direction, the gloss black looks too "home done" for lack of better terms and the original trim color looks factory not me (Bubba) by the time the painter gets it, with all trim removed, engine bay, soft top cover, bottom of hood done, all he has to do is sand and paint the outside and door jambs.
okay I'll probably buy several cans of this so please someone get a can you have and please post it's name, any code name/ serial number so I can search it out (GM Black trim paint)
that engine is detailed beautifully! Without pulling my block I'll never get it this nice so I'll do the best I can with the engine in place or hope I blow the block.

This is the stuff I used. Manufactured by SEM Products Inc. (part 39143 Trim Black), Charlotte, NC.. bought it at Car Quest..It covers well and I've had it on for about 2 years without problems...First started using it on the black exterior trim pieces that the '80's use...
wow thats a work of art, are those brackets for the shielding powder coated?
Thanks for your kind words. Actually, the orange paint is POR 15 chevy engine orange, applied with a brush. I put four coats on the block and was very happy with the results. Obviously, this was done while the engine was out of the car.
All of the black was sprayed with Eastwood paints. The satin finish was very nice.
Just got back from CorvetteGreg's house, about three chrome bumpers going thru different stages of restoration. He have me a can of that Eastwood under hood black part # 1240Z and that is what I have decided to roder and go with. Thanks to all for the input.
