Default What springs do I have?

I was planning to swap out my front springs with 460's, but now I am not sure.

I counted the coils on my stock spring and came up with 7 coils. Are these stock springs or aftermarket ones?

What are the wire diameters of the different available springs?

I have seen that picture before. The aftermarket ones are 7 coils. The stock ones are a few more coils. I think around 12 or so. I might be wrong but I know there is more than 7. The 460s in the picture above are 13.5 inches free standing. i did not measure the 550s but you can see they are shorter.

Thanks for the pic. Looks like the 460's and 550's have the same umber of coils. What about stock?

So, I have pretty much decided my springs are not stock. Is there anyway to determine what they are?

Not really. If you want to get technical and have lots of weight the 460 is the poundage it takes to compress the spring 1 inch vs 550 lbs to compress the 550s 1 inch. That would be kind of tough to measure. Not sure if the wire diameter is the same. I could measure the wire dia. of the 460s since they are out of the car.

Jughead:
Any idea as to the spring rate of the 10 coil spring.
