Default Wheel spacers or adapters

Several members asked me about the wheel spacers that I'm using so I thought I just post this:

Important:
- spacers must be hubcentric to the axle AND rim
- when using 1" spacer the studs must be ground aproximately .010" so that the studs are flush or below the mounting surface
- ensure good contact on mounting surfaces, use a file if needed to get rid of high spots
- make sure you got the correct nuts (metric or US standard)

Spacers/adapters are available on Ebay, $150 for a set of four 1"

and this is what it looks like - 275-60-15 on original aluminum wheel with 1" spacer (need two more for the front):

By the way, if anyone is interested I have 4, 1" adapters made of aluminum billet for sale - very lightweight.

If interested email @ kippdurbin@juno.com

I have not found a lot of support here for the use of spacers.

However, I used them for about 18 months with zero problems. I had them custom made out of billet aluminum base on very exact measurements. So, it can work and work well.

Your vette looks great, nice job! Are you using spacers any more? What kind of wheels are you using and how do you like them?

Thanks

Dave

Well, spacers are bad because they make the wheel lugcentric instead of hubcentric, but a good adapter keeps the wheel hubcentric.

That's why I posted this - look at the photos....... mine have a 'hub' to take the load just like the hub on the axle does...

Most aftermarket wheels are lug-centric. That's one of the reasons they use acorn lugnuts.

I am sure I will get flamed for this, but I have used the el cheapo Mr Gasket cast aluminum spacers and have had absolutely no problems.
