Default Sealant choices?

What do you folks recommend for sealing heater hose fittings and plugs into the intake and water pumps? Teflon tape? Form a gasket? Loctite gasket dressing?

I like using teflon tape and teflon pipe dope. I will make 3 tight wraps with the tape, making sure I keep it back about one thread, then apply dope. This is how I do piping jobs as well, at least with anything that's liquid. (Pipefitter for 30 years).

Guys in fab shop use a product called Permabond LH050 anaerobic pipe sealant with teflon on all the hydraulic power units they build.I figure if it holds up to that use, it is good enough for me.Resists water, chemicals and oil.lubricates, seals and prevents corrision and easy to disassemble.

I have had serious problem with teflon pipe dope. I have a 5 litre mustang with both plugs seized solid in the transmission because they were put in with teflon pipe dope. I change the oil yearly and used it the last time. The plugs are welded in and I am afraid of breaking the casing trying to get them out.
For pipe fitting who cares but on my aluminum parts I just use teflon tape.

I have used pipe dope with no problems, but my preference is ARP thread sealer.
