I was at a vendor booth at World of Wheels a couple of weeks ago and I spotted a gas lid setup that is similar to what a forum member is fabricating and selling for $50 or so. The vendor price was in the range of what he charges, so if you want to support your Vette forum buds (recommended) get in touch with the forum member. I can give you the contact info for the store if you PM or email me. These lids sit flat against the surface; the Cobra caps stick up a few inches and require lengthening the filler tube (I think). The flat ones basically take the place of the stock cover and the original filler cap resides underneath. The look with either one is very in my opinion.
do you have any pictures. my original gas lid broke so i am thinking about doing the cobra style and would like more info on both lids if possible thanks
I have the monza style gas cap (as used on the cobras).
This is not a bolt on install, required some fabrication to attach to the original gascap opening.

I don't have any pics of the lids that I saw. It would look like the stock lid (flat) but have a chrome ring ~1" wide with 6 or so screws surrounding the opening. The lid is also chrome (maybe stainless, I didn't look at the package carefully).
