I passed on the Vette I was looking at on the advice of the members here, but I'm still looking for the right one. While I'm looking, I'm trying to learn as much as possible. What magazine should I subscribe to, to get the best overall knowledge of C3's? I'm sure they all have a different emphasis. Too bad I can't get a monthly 'best of CF' printed and delivered.
Why don't you buy Vette Magazine and Corvette Fever off the shelf for a few months and then decide. One of them features modifications and the other leans toward correct restoration (I can't remember which, though).

If you want to learn as much as possible about Corvettes I would suggest Michael Antonick's "Corvette Black Book" as well as this forum. Antonick's book will give you a very good overview of each model year and this forum can help with any and all specific questions you may have. Given how little really useful information most of the magazines give each month, by the time you felt knowledgable enough to buy a Corvette there might not be any left.
There are also a pair of Corvette Resto books worth reading to gain an appreciation for the nature of Vettes (mechanical). I think they are 'How to Restore & Modify Your Corvette 1968-82' by Richard Newton and 'Chevrolet Corvette Restoration Guide' by Lindsay Porter. If you have to choose, get the first one. It describes restoration of a 1968 convertible and really delves into all aspects of Corvette mechanicals.

And Porter's book describes the restoration of a 1969, even though the cover shows a mid-year.
