Default Side Exhaust and Clearance

I was toying with the idea of side exhaust but was wondering what type of clearance under stock rocker panels you need. My car is a bit lowered. I like the look of the chromed hookers. My big thingis I don't want to sacrifice the ride height for the pipes. Any feedback or pics appreciated.

I have more room with sidepipes now then i did with the 2 1/2 exhaust i had, also youll need to put a 02 bung in for your injection.I had to trim both rockers a bit in the front for the sidepipes to fit.

i dont think clearance is much of an issue at all with sidepipes, better clearance than with a set of longtubes...the sidepipes go up under the frame behind the engine and run across the framerail, so unless ur framerail is draggin then u should be okay

My '70 rides low with a 26.5" fender lip measurement. When I had my SB and undercar exhaust, my lowest part of the car that kept bottoming out was near the passenger side differential. A tail pip clamp ket bottoming out.

Now with the side exhaust, I've got the lowest point right behind the front tire....3.5" there.

Good... I am also running 26.5" on the front lip. Then I should not have a problem. Currently running long tubes and they do run low. Lowest point on car is the collecters.

Jug: Those stock type look pretty nice as well!!

Pat... the TPI is running great. Your assist in em ails was great. I know I will need a bung. Are you using Hookers Did you weld one in or have one already put in. I would want chrome, as opposed to black. Has anyone seen the coated version? Pat..... Also got the FAST ECU with the CComp software. It is great. Closed loop Wide Band 02... Idles smooth as silk even with my cam... pretty cool as you can program the entire curve...

Thanks for the feedback!! Much appreciated

I put my own bung in on the side of the tube facing the frame and put a small notch in the frame to clear wires, this way its hidden and is still close enough to the 4 tubes.Id love to go to a fast ecu setup and be able to program it the way i want, maybe next year. Yes on the hookers.

Jughead -

Where did you get your LeMans gas cap?
Did you have to do any modifications to install it??
