Vent in differential case?

Vent in differential case?

Hi,

I have 2 76 Vettes. One L48 auto and one L82 4 sp. manual. On the L48 auto the differential appears to have a vent on top drivers side of the differential case. On the L82 4 sp. manual no vent is seen on the differential case. What is correct or was this a rolling change? The one with the vent is an earlier production number.

the vent is in the rear cover, every cover I have ever seen has had a vent....so should both of yours..

My 76 L-48 has it on the drivers side of the differential; not on the cover.

Edit: I should have said on the cover!!

Howard is correct, the vent is always in the rear cover in the upper left corner.

I learned it's a lot easier to install before you have everything bolted in place. (Ya I forgot about it and found it in the box later).
