I got home from work today and changed the oil, then I checked the transmission fluid - it was at minimum so I decided to take the 'vette out and get some ATF ..... went to the gas station, added some ATF and drove a few miles and got a coffee....
On my way home I stopped at a red light and the guy in the car next to me told me that my taillights don't work .... pulled over, checked the lights.... taillights don't work, turn signals and brake lights are ok
wow.... your lucky! you can atleast drive your car this time of year!!! i had the exact same thing happen to me! all it was was a fuse! i don't think your car hates you haha.
Ryan.

"when I drive it, something breaks"
It was too dark to check the fuses...
That's where fibre oprtics come in handy....you should have bought a '71
.....but I know what you mean.......everytime I drive mine I think "What's next??????"......
dont mean to hijack this thread but i had a quick question. Is there a fuse that controls the exterior and interior lighting i.e real tailights sidemarkers etc...? i got a 79 btw

I am not positive about a '79 but you will definately have differnt fuses for interior and exterior lights. If you don't have a shop manual, crawl under the dash and look at the fuse box right under the steering column. It will give you a pretty good idea of what fuses control what.
I took the car out for the first drive of the year and signaled a right turn to get gas. The pumps are kind of tight to the street so I had moved a little left to make room for the turn. Next thing I know there is a screech of brakes and a woman in a compact car in the gutter screaming at me "how about a signal". I lucked out and needless to say am well aware of the condition of my lights at all times.
Here is my past week:
Start motor after budget rebuild (re-ring & bearings). Oil flowing out of front and back of intake. I didn't use enough RTV and this was my first attempt of throwing out the end seals; never again.
Change intake gasket with end seals in place. Crank motor and it kinda runs for 5 seconds then dies. Crank some more, but random firing. Verified no spark. Check HEI ign module. It's bad, so I replace it. Crank and let run long enough to finalize timing.
Next morning, crank and nothing to the starter. Troubleshoot for a while and find the pos battery cable cannot carry a load. Then the + battery cable (< 4 years old) falls off into my hand (out of the factory terminal) with the connector still on the battery.
Next day (today), car drives fine, but the electric fans will not come on. Put +12 to the fans and they are fine, so problem has to be either fan controler, relay, or sending unit.
Before I tore the engine down, this was my daily driver for the past 3 years without as many problems I've had this week.
hahaha, actually it brings back memorys of my boyfriends charger(re minor things breaking whenever we took it on a cruise)...well actually it was a good car, I dont miss it though cause I have corvette in my eyes which more than makes up for it... we have sold it now to fund our corvette purchase.

I don't think so. On my car the interior (dome & courtesy) lamps, spare tire light, and horns are on the same fuse. My horns are permanently on for some reason, and one of them is frozen up. I keep the horns unplugged. If i plug in the frozen horn, the fuse blows and the courtesy lamps quit working. My taillamps work wether the fuse is blown or not.
