Howdy all
I'm having problems getting past emissions testing. The HC is in the middle of the range, the CO is in the middle of the range and the NOX is .02 above max. Any suggestions as to the cause would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You
Jim
i cant say how to get rid of it by itself, but there are several tricks to help pass the test. do a complete tune up, turn timing back, tune your carb a little lean, and make sure its up to temp so the ehaust will help burn off the bad stuff. i seem to remember reading that the emmision junk you pour in your tank actually works. dont know. you didnt mention if youve got catalytic converter or not, its gotta be in good shape and at running temps to work. if all else fails, offer the dude a 6 pack
NOX is a byproduct of high cumbustion tempratures. If your car is a year that has EGR (you didn't specify what year of car) then it may not be functioning properly. IF your EGR is functioning poperly or never had EGR, then things such as too advanced ignition timing or carbon deposits in the cumbustion chambers can raise NOX production. Just a few ideas to start with, hope I helped.
