I'm planning on replacing the non functional clock in my 69 with a needed fuel pressure gauge. Although the motor is far from original I try keep things in the interior and exterior fairly stock appearing at least. I am having a very hard time finding a pressure guage that appears similar to the existing stock gauges in the center cluster. I can find ones I can make fit but none with green lettering and a similar red needle. I was contemplating putting in an "Autogage" in which has similar lettering but unfortunately white, putting in a green bulb to help hide it and maybe even swap the needle with an original style from an old junker set I have. Anyone ever attempt this or know where I can find a better match I wouldn't have to fiddle with and possibly break?
Rambling on, I was also contemplating perhaps eliminating the garbage "Autosound" stereo/tapedeck, putting in a secret audio system somewhere and using a piece of a spare cluster to install an additional 3 guages in the stereo's place so as I could retain the clock, add the fuel pressure, vacuum gauge and save a spot for either a future NOS guage or better yet put in an accurate "replay" tack as I have no faith in the accuracy of the existing cable tach but don't want to eliminate it.
Thanks in advance for any insights, similar efforts, experiences or leads!
you need one with an electric sending unit so you don't get fuel leaking in the cockpit. Holley makes one, but it won't match the stock needles and letters.
it's wiser to use a warning light.
they sell an adjustable switch
That is a great idea, for some reason I just didn't think of that. For that matter would make sense to hnave a warning light for the fuel pressure as well as the redline.
Why not put the fuel pressure gauge near the carb?
Your motor looks great Jughead! Trying to get my engine bay all cleaned up and am installing a bunch of steel braided hose etc.
I do have one installed there already but need to have one in the cockpit. Part of it is I want to figure out if I really need to change my fuel line from the tank to my pump to 1/2". Only way to really tell is by watching it under heavy load which I can't do on the existing guage for obvious reasons. Also, just used to having a fuel pressure gauge and miss it.
i use green for rpm/shift
red for oil psi 30 psi minimum
yelow for fuel psi(i have the switch, but i never put it in)
blue for blood pressure
Very nice, where did you put them? Seems an inconspicuous set with bright visible lights perhaps on top of the steering column would be nice. If put them anywhere else I'm concerned I may not see them when really needed or wreck the car trying to see them with my foot to the floor

I'm looking for gauge space too. Gave up on radio hole.
I got the Holley electric in the clock hole and like the white color. That way i can just glance down and recognise the fuel press from the other red needle gauges. Most will install a fuel press gauge outsde the drivers windshield for fast observation. And with just a short run of flex fuel line near the henges u could install a mechanical press gauge right on the hood - but would take some time and fiberglass/bodywork effort to look trick. Yea man fuel press, oil press, vacuum and maybe a shift light right on the hood kinda like the hood mounted tachs on the GTOs. cardo0
