I was opening the pass door with the key and the whole thing came out. I took off the door panel and found the clip. My question is, there has to be a trick to putting it back on????
I tried putting my arm up from the bottom but could not reach. There has to be an easy way to place the clip back on???
a useful tool for your purpose is a hemostat. it will work like a minivise grip & lock onto the clip while you set it in place. Find one with a curved tip. I forget where i got mine but you can probably get one at a surgical supply or a good drug store for a few bucks. Very handy for working on little parts. Sorry the pic isnt that clear but you ought to get the idea.
I really appreciate you guys for the help. I do have a 12" hemostat that I use when I feed my snakes. Yes I keep snakes for a hobby. I will use it and let you know how it went.
I taped my clip to a long screwdriver end with duct tape. Held it in place and pushed it in with another screwdriver. Then I put a piece of duct tape on the clip so that it wouldn't slip off easily again. Mine fell off in a motel parking lot 400 miles from home with the doors locked. I had never been able to budge the passenger side lock until that day. I said, Please Lord let this door unlock, and it unlocked so easily. I haven't been able to get it to unlock again!
