Default Horsepower

I wondering is 400 horsepower to much. I have a guy that is going to rewire my whole car, build the motor and transsmisson and fix the air conditioning my 75 corvette. I am going to give him my 34 ford shell and frame for the work. Know I need to know how much horsepower to tell him to make the motor btw it is a 350 he will be building.
Thanks

300-350 will be a lot cheaper, more reliable, and if your not racing you will still have enough to feel like a badass on the street

I have 450 in my 383 and love it. 400 hp is definately not "too much".

You'll always want more. For a 350 400hp is probably okay and still have it mild enough to drive and idle okay.

If you mostly floor it at low speeds, then 400 is probably just right. If you like to get thrown back in your seat at 70, then it might not be enough.

400 is a real nice number, but your gonna get hooked and get used to it and want more. i say no less than 350/400 hp. i expect 450 like jmoney from my 383, and am building it so i can make more later

There is not a "too much" HP figure!!

Also, you can not be "too rich" or "too beautiful" - ask your wives...

I agree with Joe Buck: Unless mpg is a concern, over 400 is no problem. I think Lotahp is pushing 500 and his is streetable.

Mine motor made 465 in GSC3's car and it is completely streetable. Ya, mpg is in the toilet, but at 100-150 miles per week, it's not that bad.

The C5 Z06 has 405hp, and the new C6 has 400.

our C3s are also 250 or so lbs heavier. So to keep on par with stock new cars, I think 450 is a much better goal.

This can be accomplished on run of the mill aftermarket parts.
