I've had good success with MT ET Drag radials at the strip (1.60 sec. 60 ft. times)....NO street tire ever hooks up for me anywhere.

Drag radials work great for me. 275/60/15. 15-17 psi when at the track. I consistantly ran 1.50 to 1.58 60 ft times. They worked much better than the Hoosier quick time pro's I was running! No squirmy feeling at 120 plus mph!!

Best guess is 3100 to 3200. I've pulled alot of weight out of the car.
No spare, cruise, a/c, etc. I bet I have 100lb of just crap in the attic.
I could probably shave another 50 to 100 with headers, race seats, and lighter wheels.
Hehe, yup...so, how about in a week er so? I'm still waiting for a nice night...

Also 'summer' tires might be better than all-seasons. I don't know a lot about drag tires but as far as street tire selection you are in a bit of a dilemma. I think you want a rubber compound that offers good traction and relatively soft sidewalls and low inflation pressure.

Your choices are cheapo entry level non-performance tires like the BFG Radial that have weak sidewalls but you get the hard rubber compound.

Or you go w/ decent tires or even performance tires that offer a better traction compound w/ lower treadwear rating but these will be H or V speed rated and thus have a stiffer reinforced performance construction to their sidewalls.

good advice!
tell us the DOT date code on the back of the tires.
Put 24- 25 psi in them and PUT THE SPARE BACK IN!
I GUARANTEE better traction.
Summer will be better with hot pavement.

I could never run 25 psi in the 275's. They are way to mushy.

You would think with a fuel tank of gas and a alum. engine, it would be popping wheelies all day.

with the LS1, u will need new tires every year.
that's what i've read the racers do. u can sell the old ones so it won't cost too much.
either that or traction contrl

i've managed 1.80 60' times with 275-40-17 nitto drag radials at the track.
and 1.50 60' times with 28" x 10.5" Et drags.

drag radials definately hook better than regular tires on the street. but it also depends on the power level too. if your putting 500hp to the ground, it's not going to hook on the street.
what kind of power are you making?
