headlight vacuum check valve
Thanks, I think I'm about to pass corvette 101 course on diagnosing headlight vacuum problems. Found actuator seals, as mentioned in another thread, to be bad and also the check valve. Ordered seals and new dust boots but can't find the check valve. I've checked with a couple of parts houses and Chevrolet tells me that they have discontinued it. Any ideas of where I can find this part?

I got mine at Corvette Express (www.corvette-express.com) in Vacaville, CA. Their supplier is Paragon. Be sure and pick up a filter as well, or check valve life will degrade significantly. Voice of experience here...

Something I've always wondered is what purpose the check valve serves? Bubba hacked up the vacuum system on my 81 during it's tortured past, and completely removed the check valve. Where it should be, there's just another vacuum T that branches off to the brake booster. So far though, the headlights seem to be working properly. So what am I missing?

Vaccum drop...
It's to prevent vaccum drop under acceleration or say, climbing a hill. It goes in the supply line from the intake. It's real important on 68-72's with the wiper door. The door opens when vaccum drops off without the check valve.
