I am still trying to figure out why people spend 30K to redo a car and then sell it for less money. This whole performance thing costs alot of money and if you have extra money to spend then I guess it's up to that person. How much HP does one person need these days unless you are racing. I know it's macho, but if you took the same money and bought a C2(yes, you can find decent C2's in that range) you have a car that will bring way more money in the future. Or take your money and invest it for the future.
I restored my 75 but I only put about 10K(paid 3K for car) into it and I have a 330 HP engine that looks stock. Everything else looks stock also. It may never appreciate that much but at least I have a chance to make money on the car IF I decide to sell it. That is not my intention now.
I'm sure I'll get killed by all of you for my comments but it's just my .02!

Others spend their time and money working on cars. In the end you have the memories and equity.

Hi, did your vette sell? I am looking to buy my first vette. Started researching about 6 months ago. I am wanting to buy a 70-72 convertible, but I must say, everyday I go back and look at your vette. This is truly a pride of ownership corvette, as I have noticed from the tone you post your messages, it is not easy for you to sell this vette and everytime you drive it, it brings joy to our heart.
If you don't mind me asking, from your experience, would a first time buyer, would benefit more from a coupe or a convertible? In the price range that I have convinced my wife to let me spend the money, low 20K range, there are some convertible vettes, but it seems that I could find a coupe in much better condition. I am looking ofr a convertible because I live in Miami, Florida, so it makes sense.
From the short time that I joined this forum, I have noticed that there ae some really nice people here, looking out for other members. They are willing to help out whenever possible, something that is not very common, specially were I live. I hope that their words of encouragement, bring good result to your situation.
I am looking to close some real estate deals very shortly, which is were my allowance money will come from, but buying older vettes is not the same as buying a late model car. Sometimes what you want, will not be there the next month, next week or even the next day. There are not lot inxepensive vetes here in Florida. Mostly they are up north, which make it more difficult, since I would hate to buy my first vette and it turns out to be a real nightmare.
I keep saying to myself, don't start looking until you have the money in your hands. But since I am not the most mechanically inclined person I feel I the need to do more research than those who can work on their own cars. Not to mention the self torture of finding a vette that makes your heart thump, to only see it SOLD. I am trying to convince myself to pay a bit more for a car that needs very little work, but may not be my dream car, but then again they are more expensive, specially the convertible ones.
Well I have taken a lot of your time and I do appreciate you reading my message I hope all turns out well with your sale. If you have not sold your vette, please keep me updated if you do plan on selling it, it is a very good looking vette. Thanks again and good luck.
Sincerely yours,
Carlos Castillo

WOW! I cannot believe this car is still on the market. The price is getting closer to a number that will justify my trip from Dallas....

Wow!
I am a 20 yr old college student... Your car seriously makes me contemplating living out of that car, working at mcdonalds the rest of my life isntead of going to college! In all seriousness you have it priced fair, and I hope that one day I'll be in the situation where I could buy a car in that good of condition.

I do believe this one was sold. Someone out there got a very fine vette in the deal too.
